As it turns out, this morning's competitors share more than a few traits. Both albums are unremitting explorations of a variety of metal's more enduring and beloved subgenres. Both end with rewarding covers of classic metal tracks that are over two decades old. But while The Necrotic Manifesto is every bit as mean and energizing as Deathless, the latter showcases a band achieving greater successes covering the same territory. Whereas Aborted wax nostalgic, Revocation build upon existing forms into new heights. Even Revocation's Morbid Angel cover is a bigger achievement than Aborted's Sepultura jam. Revocation defeat Aborted and move on to the Semifinal round tomorrow.
But first, there's one more Quarterfinal round to get through tonight: Every Time I Die vs Job For A Cowboy!
